Insurers say whiplash claims cost the industry £2b a year and add an average of £90 to the annual personal motor insurance bill.

Unfortunately  the UK has become “the whiplash capital of Europe” with 1,500 claims a day being reported for the most minor accident.

There has been a 70% rise in motor insurance injury claims in the past six years with roughly 554,000 whiplash claims in 2010/2011.

The Prime Minister has recently held talks at Downing Street with insurance, consumer and business groups about ways to stop “trivial claims”.

Number 10 states that a promise has been made by insurers to pass any savings on to consumers in return for government action.

There are a number of measures that both Insurers and the Government are examining as options to tackle this growing problem and we will be keeping a close eye on the results for feed back to our clients.

David Heath from Finch’s Staines office recently attended the 25^th Anniversary of the award winning Brentford FC Community Sports Trust at the Audi West London HQ building – that’s the impressive building that you can see the inside of from the M4 elevated section as you drive in to London.  Some of you may be aware that David is a Director of Brentford Football Club and spent two years in a part-time voluntary role as Acting CEO during which time he worked closely with the Community Sports Trust. David comments “the work that Lee Doyle and his team do is quite fantastic, they’re a real inspiration to anyone that has ever been in contact with them or benefitted from their incredible work”

Commercial insurance specialists, Finch Group, is please to announce expansion into two new local markets with the opening of offices at either end of the M3 corridor.

A new office in Staines was opened in January 2012, aimed at providing a local commercial insurance service to companies based in the Staines, Kingston and Heathrow areas.

Likewise, a new office in Southampton on the ground floor of International House, George CurlWay (by Southampton Airport) will offer cover to local clients in South Hampshire, covering Southampton / Eastleigh and up towards Winchester.

These new offices follow the Finch Group principal of offering local support to local business and now gives us a presence across a large part of Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey.

Managing Director of Finch Commerical, Vince Gardner said,

“Our client numbers in Reading and Basingstoke have grown consistently over the last five years, prompting this move, so we can provide an even better service by localising ourselves in the community.”

The Staines office will be headed up by David Heath, who has over 30 years experience in commercial insurance and lives locally in Uxbridge. David is  also a non-Executive Director of Brentford Football Club and spent 26 months recently as acting CEO. David said,

“I’m delighted to have joined Finch Commercial recently, they enjoy an excellent reputation within the commercial insurance field for professional service and I look forward to meeting with and helping local businesses”.

The Southampton commercial insurance team will be headed-up by Neil Davis, who has over seven years experience in commercial insurance broking and is himself from the local area. Supporting Neil is Maire Brown, who manages Finch’s existing, strong relationships with local client firms The Champion Group, R.W Armstrong and Skilz.
