Finch Commercial, Baker Tilly and Lamb Brooks recently held a three-way cricket competition at Mays Bounty, the home of Basingstoke & North Hants Cricket Club.

The matches were set up as six a-side with five overs per innings and each fielder had to bowl an over. There was also a “Power Zone” on the straight boundary where batsmen could get double runs. (ie: A four would be an eight).

Basingstoke Cricket CompetitionFinch dispatched Lamb Brooks easily in game one with Father and Son opening pair of Vincent and William Gardner (pictured) setting the tone with 20 off the first over. Finch closed on 75 which proved too many for the lawyers, with Stewart Pease and Will Gardner bowling miserly overs.

Ryan Houston struggled a little with his accuracy but excellent keeping by Denis Hounsham made a big difference for the insurance brokers.

In game two, Lamb Brooks avoided a white-wash by beating Baker Tilly, with captain Andy Lowe and senior partner Robery Finlayson each bowling superb overs. Mr Lowe proceeded to smash the accountants to all parts of the ground to claim victory despite “enthusiastic” fielding by tax specialist Tim Smith.

In game three, Finch bowled well to restrict the accountants to 42 runs but great bowling and fielding by Baker Tilly left Finch needing 2 to win off 2 balls. A crazy run by Nick Hoadley and the resulting 4 over-throws (“buzzers” cried the Finch supporters, who were by then tucking into the free bar and buffet) meant that Finch won the day.

A big thank you to Jack Bailey from Lamb Brooks for organising this excellent evening!
