Two of the Finch team recently joined an excursion to the battlefields and cemeteries of Belgium courtesy of Miles Smith Insurance Group.
Ryan Houston and Robbie Keyworth joined a group travelling from Kent and spent two days on a whistle-stop tour to take in the awe-inspiring sights that remember The First World War.
The trip, which took in museums, trenches and many cemeteries across the region, also stopped to witness The Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate at Ypres, which is played every evening at 8pm.
The trip, quite obviously left an impression with both men. Robbie commented:
The trip was quite unbelievable. Firstly, Miles Smith put on a fantastic tour with an incredibly insightful guide in the shape of Paul McPherson, who gave us a real sense of those tragic events 100 years ago.
Secondly, to witness first-hand the pure scale of the cemeteries and the battlefields was an incredible eye-opener, which I am still coming to terms with.”
It was an incredibly educational trip and a very emotive and moving experience, which I will remember for a very long time to come. It really brings it home to you the tragic loss and the need to remember.”
